Last night was obviously very tough and disappointing for all Conservatives in Rushmoor, and I particularly pay tribute to Cllr Marina Munro, Cllr Maurice Sheehan, Cllr Jib Belbase, Cllr Diane Bedford, Cllr Nem Thapa, Cllr Michael Hope, who lost their wards. Their tremendous community-focussed activism across many years - and in some cases decades - will not be forgotten.
I also pay tribute to newcomer Dr Bishal Gurung who fought a brilliant and positive campaign.
The bright spot in a very tough night was the election of Cllr Steve Harden - who secured a richly deserved victory in Fernhill after an exhaustive and positive campaign.
I'd also like to congratulate Cllr Sue Carter and Cllr Paul Taylor, who held the wards of Cove & Southwood and Knellwood.
Massive thanks to other local candidates Cllr Rod Cooper, Peter Crerar and Cllr Bill Withers for all their efforts and hard work on the campaign trail.
Rushmoor may have changed control but what will not change is the determination and drive of local Conservatives to improve the lives of residents across the borough.
