Thousands of high street shops, department stores and shopping centres reopened safely in England this week, with many across Aldershot, Farnborough, Blackwater and Hawley opening their doors for the first time since late March.
These retailers, including shops selling clothes, shoes and toys, were allowed to begin trading in-person again as the country continues to meet the five tests set out by the Prime Minister, meaning it is safe to cautiously and gradually reopen parts of our economy.
Leo Docherty MP commented: "This has been the most challenging period for shops and high streets in our history. I have seen first-hand the toll the last few months have taken on them, but we must now begin to recover and restore our way of life.
That's why, today, I'm launching my campaign to #ShopLocal - encouraging residents across Aldershot, Farnborough, Blackwater and Hawley to join me in shopping local and supporting local businesses. These businesses are the life-blood of our towns, and they need our support at this difficult time if they are to remain at the heart of our communities."
