To celebrate the birthday of King Charles III, Leo Docherty MP, in his role as Minister for Europe, attended an event at the British Embassy in Luxembourg with ambassador Fleur Thomas.
Leo was in Luxembourg as part of a two-day visit, following the signing of a bilateral co-operation agreement between the United Kingdom and the country in May, to strengthen the close partnership and robust financial links between the two nations.
This coincided with birthday celebrations for the King, and Leo was able to meet with service personnel from the Scots Guards (his old regiment) who were on duty, in full uniform despite the warm summer weather, at an event hosted by the British Embassy to mark the occasion.
Ambassadors from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, China, Japan and Turkey, Members of the Luxembourg Parliament, representatives of the state council and the government, attended the event, together with the British business community in Luxembourg and numerous societies and NGOs.
In honour of the King's passion to conservation and protecting the natural environment, environmental group Natur & Ëmwelt attended the event with a stand.
