Victoria Day was back again this year, celebrating Aldershot's royal and military heritage with a circus-themed parade through the town centre.
The event, organised by Rushmoor Borough Council and supported by local businesses and organisations, showcases the town's rich history and culture, as well as its vibrant and diverse community and has been running since 2007.
This year was the largest ever parade, with over 800 people taking part including Aldershot's very own Queen Victoria - Betty Bryce. The parade through the town centre featured samba and marching bands, local schools, community groups, veterans, Nepali and Indian dancers, and several classic cars, with Leo Docherty MP joining John Jerome of Edgar Jerome in a Triumph TR4.
After the parade, Princes Gardens hosted a variety of spectacular performances and some circus-themed entertainment, with games, stalls and even a replica elephant.
Commenting, Leo said:
"It was great weather for Victoria Day 2023 - a magnificent event, and a pleasure to catch-up with Aldershot's very own Queen Vic - Betty Bryce.
"The parade was a spectacle of vibrant colour, with displays from Nutkhut, the Red Barrows, the Big Noise Community Samba Band, Acoustic Jass, and various other local groups and clubs.
"Huge thanks to all those that helped to organise; Rushmoor Borough Council, the sponsors and business owners, all the volunteers and marshals, including those from Greater Rushmoor Nepali Community, the parade participants, and those that contributed to put on a fantastic day in Aldershot."
