This week the Government announced a plan to ban disposable vapes, which are a health risk to children, as well as a threat to the environment.
Commenting, Leo said:
This is really welcome news and has strong support locally.
"The Government's announcement will help keep vapes out of the hands of children, as well as safeguarding the environment."
The issue of disposable vapes is something Leo has been engaged with in recent months. He recently met with Hampshire County Cllr Bill Withers whose Council motion encouraging the Government to tackle the threat posed by disposable vapes, received unanimous cross-party support.
Leo raised the matter with both Health and DEFRA Ministers, highlighting the threat posed to children's health and the environment by disposable vapes. Around 5 million disposable vapes are thrown away every week.
