The Government has announced a £150 million funding boost for local bus services as the £2 bus fare cap is set to be extended
The 'Get Around For £2' bus fare cap scheme, first introduced by the Government in January, will be extended again to continue to help people save money. The cap had been due to rise to £2.50 but will instead remain at £2 and continue until 31 December 2024 thanks to the redirected HS2 funding. This takes total government investment to cap bus fares at £2 to nearly £600 million.
Commenting, Leo said: "This is really good news for all those local people who rely on the bus to get around. This is another example of the Government helping people in practical ways with the cost-of-living."
