Following the Prime Minister's announcement that there would be a public consultation on creating the first smoke-free generation and tackling youth vaping, Leo held a follow-up meeting with Hampshire County Cllr Bill Withers, to discuss the issue and local efforts to protect the environment and young people's health
Cllr Withers is a local champion on this issue, having had his motion on disposable vapes receive unanimous cross-party support at Hampshire County Council. His motion focused on the impact of vaping on young people's health, the environment, and called on the Government to take action.
Commenting, Leo said: "Great to have a follow-up meeting this afternoon with Bill to discuss the ongoing efforts to protect young people from the harmful effects of vaping and single-use 'disposable' vapes.
"Really encouraging news from the Prime Minister yesterday, and I very much welcome the consultation. I am particularly keen to see the laws on the sale of vapes enforced more rigorously, to make sure they do not fall into the hands of children and young people."
