Local football clubs in the Aldershot constituency are set to benefit from new investment as part of the Government's Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme.
- More than 1,700 new and improved multi-sports grassroots facilities across the UK are benefiting from £68 million, encouraging people to get active by participating in sport.
Ash Community FC and Aldershot Boys and Girls FC are set to benefit from funding, as part of the Government's drive to improve local grassroot sports facilities. The Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme is investing over £300 million between 2021 and 2025 into sports facilities across the country. The programme provides funding to make essential facility improvements, so that communities have a high-quality pitch to play on.
Projects support a range of facility types, from the creation or upgrade of changing rooms, grass pitches and 3G football turf pitches and pavilions, to floodlights, fencing and improved disabled access.
In total, £111 million has been invested in 2021 to 2022 and 2022 to 2023 to improve grass and artificial pitches, changing rooms and floodlights to make a real difference to communities across the UK. A further £191 million of government funding over the next two years will provide spaces for people to get active, whatever their background and wherever they live. £68 million has been committed in 2022 to 2023 to a range of projects that aim to deliver improved facilities in deprived areas, support multi-sport use and increase participation among currently under-represented groups.
