As part of a £19 million Government plan, all eligible secondary schools now have an automated external defibrillator (AED) on site, and all state-funded schools requiring one, will receive one by the end of this academic year.
Through the swift use of an AED, this can lead to better survival rates after an individual suffers from a cardiac arrest by as much as 90%. Alongside the supply of this equipment, schools are receiving additional support to help teach first aid as part of the curriculum.
Commenting, Leo Docherty MP said:
"All secondary schools across the Aldershot constituency now have a life-saving defibrillator on site, with all remaining state-funded schools to have one provided later this year.
"This is a vital piece of life saving equipment, and having more accessible in public spaces will help to improve the chances of survival if an individual suffers from a cardiac arrest."
