The National Health Service (NHS) marks its 75th anniversary today, with events across the country to honour its staff and patients.
The NHS was founded on 5 July 1948, with the aim of providing free health care for all, regardless of wealth or status. The anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the history and future of the NHS, which has undergone many changes and reforms since its inception. From pioneering organ transplants and IVF to introducing screening programmes and digital services, the NHS has constantly adapted to meet the needs and expectations of its patients.
Locally, the Aldershot Health Primary Care Network will be hosting a Big Tea Celebration for the 75th Anniversary of the NHS on Saturday at Princes Gardens, Aldershot.
